It’s summer and that means ALL the dresses!
Ya girl is a huge budget shopper, so it has been a life mission to maximize my closet and get use out of every piece of clothing that is purchased. A recent fav summer find has been this t-shirt midi dress from Target- I am going to share 5 ways to wear this midi dress, but you can use these tips for any dress that you already have!
For $20, it is one of the best quality t-shirt dresses I have ever found! It has a boxy fit, is sooo soft, washes really well and I personally think it would look great on every body type!

SIZING REFERENCE: I am 5’2″ and I usually wear a M/L or size 8 and 8.5-9 in shoes.
1. Kimono + Sandals
This is my favorite way to wear any dress. As a teacher, I am constantly looking for (budget-friendly) ways to change up my outfits, and a kimono is the perfect way to do that! I tend to stick with solid essential pieces (i.e. shirts, pants, skirts, etc.) and add flare with accessories! To spice it up a little, I tied the dress up and added some sparkly sandals.
Wear a dainty necklace and a slick ponytail, or if you have short hair like I do, add some waves and let the wind do the work for you!
Shop the look:
Dress: Target (wearing L, size up for boxier fit; sleeveless version, shorter version)
Sandals: Target (wearing size 9, size up 1/2 size; in black)
Kimono: Amazon (Wearing L, wish I would’ve ordered M, true to size)
2. Sun Hat and Mules
This summer I have been obsessed with sun hats and anytime I see a fun + cute one, I snatch it up reallll fast. Hats are an easy way to accessorize an outfit, and if you have to deal with major summer heat its an affordable way to stay cool! I found this one in the dollar section of target for $7 and was smitten right away.
I found these wicker mules at Aldi for $8, and I fawn over them daily. I am in a mood where I want everything wicker and natural so these are literally a god-send. They go with everything and can be dressed up or down!
Wear the dress free-flowing and SNATCH. THE. LOOK. with messy hair and that no-makeup sun-kissed GLOW!
Shop the look:
Dress: Target (wearing L, size up for boxier fit; sleeveless version, shorter version)
Wicker mules: (similar, similar)
3. Denim Jacket and Tennies
A good denim jacket NEVER goes to waste! No matter the season, you can always use it to accessorize and add the flare you need to any outfit. I have worn the heck out of this jacket and I still love it!
Put your fav tennies on, throw that jean jacket over your shoulder and its a LOOK. Pair with easy curls, a high-pony, or even a straight slicked back behind-the-ear style and call it a day. No need for a full-face of makeup, this look says easy-going and free!
Shop the look:
Dress: Target (wearing L, size up for boxier fit; sleeveless version, shorter version)
Jean Jacket: Target (Wearing L, oversized fit; same jacket in black)
Tennies: (White platform, leopard platform, rose gold platform)
+ my go-to superga chunky sneakers!
4. Tie the jacket around your waist!
Another go-to style for me is to take the same jacket and tie it around my waste to not only add a different style, but add some dimension to an otherwise long + plain dress. This breaks up the color and cinches your waist to give the dress a different look.
This would work with tennies, sandals, or even some wedges! Wear your hair messy + add some mascara and a pop-of-color lip to complete the fit.
Shop the look:
Dress: Target (wearing L, size up for boxier fit; sleeveless version, shorter version)
Jean Jacket: Target (Wearing L, oversized fit; same jacket in black)
5. Fanny Pack and Platforms
I am slow clapping for this fit as we speak. I am THRIVING when I wear a fanny pack. 1. They are so functional 2. with the right style, they are CUTE as heck!
I love the look of a long dress with a belt or fanny pack! It helps break up the boxiness and cinches your waist in a way that is so feminine and pretty. I added my fav platforms for a fun dinner or shopping look!
Shop the look:
Dress: Dress: Target (wearing L, size up for boxier fit; sleeveless version, shorter version)
Fanny Pack: Amazon (similar, similar) The one I am wearing.
Platforms: Black Oxford Platform | Neutral Oxford Platform | White Oxford Platforms
Summer is so fun to try out new styles and change up what you already have in your wardrobe! Don’t be afraid to try new ways to accessorize or wear your fav pieces.
