With different illnesses, the winter blues, and really just life hitting full force, we like to keep supplements and preventatives on hand for daily use to help keep us in good spirits and in our best health! I want to share our go-to’s with you so you can add them to your repertoire to keep you and your family safe and healthy…

We take a more natural and holistic approach to healthcare so this is what you will find below. We 100% believe in western medicine, but in that it has its time and place and that we should treat the root cause of issues instead of covering up symptoms.
We believe that we were given everything we need to take care of the bodies the Heavenly Father gave us, as well as the resources to learn how to use what He has given us. Please don’t feel like you have to have all of these things, but choose what will work for YOU!
Elderberry Syrup
Homemade Elderberry Syrup is hands-down our #1 must-have year round. I make a large batch and store it in our fridge for daily use and whenever we feel a cold or flu symptoms hitting. This syrup has saved me countless times and I am so thankful I learned about this little berry when I did.
Elderberry Syrup…
- is packed with vitamins and antioxidants that help to strengthen the immune system
- can help shorten the duration of some illnesses
- is a great source of vitamin C
- is rich in vitamin A
- can be used to prevent colds and treat flu
- and so much more!
There are hundreds of elderberry syrups and supplements that claim to be the best on the market, but have 💩 ingredients, which is why I make my own.
It’s super easy to make a batch for yourself, so here’s the recipe if you want to try it:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of Elderberries
- 3 cups of water
- 1 cup of local honey
Steps:
- Place elderberries and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 30 minutes. Mash berries to release the juice, strain mixture through a fine mesh sieve, and discard the pulp.
- Combine juice and honey in a glass jar with a lid and store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months
- Take 1-2 tsp daily for preventative care and 2 tbsp a day when ill- consult doctors for use with children.
TRS Detox Spray
This little spray packs a PUNCH! I happened across this heavy metal detox from multiple people I follow on Instagram and I am more than thankful for it- my mind is clearer, my body is purging the heavy metals we are inundated with on a daily basis, and it truly has given me peace of mind that I am doing what I can to be as healthy as I can in a world where our true health is the last thing talked about.

I don’t know about you, but I do NOT want the toxins in my body any longer so TRS is a consistent in our routine. We did a huge detox a few months ago, but now that we are facing so much more damage on a daily basis we do two sprays in the morning to start us off on the right foot for the day. We will do a lengthy detox yearly and do 1-2 sprays daily for maintenance after this round.

Magnesium Bicarbonate
This is one of the, if not THE, most important supplements because it is essential for the survival of our cells.
To learn more about what Magnesium Bicarbonate is, read this article by LivePristine. It explains the importance of MagBicarb in such a way that is easy to understand, but also shows you just how necessary it is.
We take 4-6oz daily, and are working up to 8oz! Cory hates the taste so I usually use it as the liquid in our smoothies so he can’t tell its in there (shhh its a secret).
This is the building block of our supplements regimen, which is why it’s so important. It’s really easy to make, too, which makes it a no-brainer to add to the lineup.
We bought a SodaStream machine to make our own carbonated water so we always had supplies on hand, but you can use pre-made carbonated water (plain) if you want to. Just follow the directions on the package and you are good to go!

Thieves Oil
Ya girl is a HUGE fan of Thieves, not only for the smell but for the real benefits it has. I wasn’t a believer at first, but I B E L I E V E! Having Thieves oil on hand makes it easy to add to a diffuser, make DIY hand sanitizer, make foamy hand soap for your bathrooms, and to make a cleaner for any surface in your house!

I use thieves oil daily in my classroom and I just recently ordered the Thieves home kit to upgrade all of our soaps, cleaners, and bathroom items. I am a believer in that any additional support we add to the areas of our life, especially in the winter and heavy sickness times, is beneficial.

Shilajit
Verywellhealth.com states that…

Shilajit has many health benefits, but we take it for its adaptogen characteristics that help aid with stress and increased energy.

Desiccated Liver Supplements
I have noticed a huge difference in my energy since taking liver supplements! According to Nourishing World, by taking beef liver (either raw or in capsule form), you are consuming one of the most beneficial additions to your diet that:

- Increases endurance and athletic performance
- Builds and repairs muscles
- Strengthens the immune system
- Improves digestion
- Boosts metabolism

At first it really grossed me out thinking about taking liver, but once I realized what a powerful addition it was I knew I needed to suck it up. I’m not brave enough to take raw liver shots yet, but I’m working on it. I’d say to get your liver in, in any form, is a win!
Vitamin E
Both Cory and I take Vitamin E daily! According to Centrum, Vitamin E “is an antioxidant found in foods and supplements. Like other antioxidants, vitamin E helps protect against damage from free radicals…free radicals can cause damage to your cells. Luckily, antioxidants like vitamin E might be able to help. Antioxidants fight free radical damage, which may help your cells stay healthier for longer.”
The combo of Vitamin E, Liver, Shilajit, TRS, and Magnesium Bicarbonate is a game-changer and I feel by absolute best when I am feeding my body quality supplements like these and a balanced diet full of whole foods. So much of our pain, illnesses, and problems stem from our diet and environment which makes us need these supplements in the first place.
There are a lot of Vitamin E supplements out there, but you want to make sure that you choose a quality supplement! Here is the one we take:
Fresh Orange Juice
Ohhh mama, let’s talk about fresh OJ for a sec.
I have had to re-train my brain to understand that natural sources of sugar are key for our body to continue working like its supposed to, and let me tell you…it was HARD. I had such a jacked up view of food and I find myself slipping back into that from time-to-time, BUT now I’m able to ✨squeeze✨ those thoughts away with fresh OJ.
When I talk about F R E S H, I mean straight from the orange. Not packaged up in a carton for months…I mean FRESH! There are a lot of stores that squeeze fresh juice on-site which can get pretty pricey, but I find that I really enjoy the time it takes me to juice my own, so I typically just get oranges (it also helps with the fact that I literally put all of my strength into getting the juice so it forces me not to waste it). However you get it, just get it. We have an automatic juicer and a manual juicer that I switch between, which I will link below!
Add 8oz of fresh OJ to your diet every day and you can thank me later. You need the natural sugar, you need the vitamin C, you just need it.
You can also make an adrenal cocktail to aid your adrenal gland by combining:
- 4oz of OJ
- Pinch of Salt
- 4oz of coconut water
- 1 scoop of collagen (optional: makes this a heartier and fuller snack rather than just a drink)
OR
- 8oz OJ
- Splash of Raw Cream
- Pinch of Salt

My go-to collagen that I NEVER go without (seriously, I have it on a monthly subscription order) can easily be added to baked goods, into coffee, and in your daily adrenal cocktail. 10/10 recommend to help with hair, nails, and skin.
Chaga Powder
Welcome to another powerhouse immune booster! This is a new addition to our rotation and I am PUMPED!
Chaga is a fungus that grows on birch trees in colder climates. It contains powerful antioxidants and is an adaptogen, which helps balance and normalize the body’s functions. It has countless benefits for the digestive system and even aids in reducing inflammation in the body.
Chaga can be used in teas, soups, coffee…really anything! I plan on adding it to our smoothies and/or daily coffee/matchas.

Acerola Powder
Acerola cherries contain higher amounts of vitamin C than oranges, so if you aren’t a fan of oranges or orange juice this is another option to get that good C in. I am a fan of adding Acerola Cherries into our smoothies, but powdered Acerola is a great second option if cherries aren’t available.
I also really want to try a scoop in my daily Matcha, but I haven’t been brave enough to go for it yet. I’ll keep you posted when I do😉
I keep this on hand in case we run out of cherries, but I 10/10 recommend trying it for a Vitamin C boost!
In our C-word Kit, we keep these two items STOCKED (plus the items listed above):
Budesonide Nosespray
Budesodine nosespray can help aid in early symptoms of c-word by targeting the bacteria and hopefully eliminating it to progressing to pneumonia. It is a corticosteroid that is used to prevent inflammation in the lungs.
Original Listerine Mouthwash
Original Listerine Mouthwash packs a freaking punch, y’all. I mean, it is STRONG! It is antimicrobial and targets germs in the mouth. You can find this at any drug store or major chain- we got ours at Target!
I also want to get a nebulizer to keep on hand in case we start to feel the effects! This is on my wishlist to get ASAP:
